The year is 431 BCE. The Battle of Potidae prompted Sparta and Athens to meet in Sparta, and resulted in an official declaration of war between Athens' Delian League, and the Spartan Confederacy. Everywhere, lines are drawn in the sand, and the thirst for war is at the forefront of everyone's mind.

The Garou Nation exists in the midst of this, nurturing septs against the spread of the weaver with rising city-states and incursions of the wyrm from the Nation's thousand enemies. A single pack, known as the Alpha Pack, has managed to unite the vast majority of Greece to fight as one. This auspicious pack accepts only sept alphas, and has managed to unite septs near Delphi and Olympia, as well as on the islands of Crete and Lesbos. Previously, this included the sept of Hiera Orgas, a famously ancient glade west of Athens, but the sept has recently fallen, and with it, its sept leader.

To foster hope in the face of mortal war and lost septs, a Black Fury deeded Merciful Strike has joined the Alpha Pack and enlisted the help of a renowned pack of caern-builders for her elder challenge to create a sept on Dokos, an island between Sparta and Athens that seems to be on a convergence of mystical energies. The sept promises to be a safe harbor in the raging storm of Greece's increasingly antagonistic climate, built from the ground up by the noble warriors of Gaia who answer the call to help create the caern and be a part of establishing something new. The Rite of Caern Building is a daunting task, and no aspiring Elder can tackle it alone.
