Character Creation Guide

Garou Character Creation Steps
1- Decide on a Concept:
~ Who are you? What did you do with your life?
~ Age: Pick how old you wish to be.
~ Use the Character Background below to help you build your concept.
2 - Draw a Card
~ Every character will be able to draw a card, each card has a unique effect that will provide some benefit to you. You may trade cards with another player if both of you want to (though any one character may only benefit from one card); alternatively you may - if you truly do not like your card - instead turn it in for 8 extra XP that can be spent right after creation.
3 - Choose a Tribe/Breed/Auspice:
~ Some Tribes do not exist yet, or do not exist locally. Check with staff if you are hoping to make something weird or not posted.
~ Note that the Native American Tribes and Fera are strictly prohibited from this game.
~ The weirder you get with your concept, the less kind NPC's will be to you.
4 - Choose a Divine Patron, Archetypes for your Nature/Demeanor and an Origin:
- Pick a deity as your Divine Patron (if you'd like to start with one) and list your starting Devotion as 1.
~ Pick any Archetype from any White Wolf book. Please work with Staff for strange Natures and Demeanors.
~ Pick your Origin; each Origin grants bonus Abilities at Character Creation.
5 - Determine Rank
~ Rank is freely chosen, it does not cost creation points. Make sure to carefully check your Tribe as some tribes are more limited on Rank Choice than others.
~ Make sure to check the link above to see the Rank chart as with higher Ranks there are benefits, but also drawbacks to be considered.
6 - Prioritize and assign Attribute Traits:
~ We are using a Table Top format for Attributes (Physical, Social, and Mental broken down into 3 sub-categories each). Click on the link above for more details.
~ Start with 1 point in each, then add 7/5/3. We are not using Negative Traits.
~ Add 1 Point to one of your Tribes Favored Attributes
7 - Assign Abilities:
~ Please see our forum for available Abilities. If you do not see an Ability on the page that you want, please bring it up to the staff and we will tell you what the best equivalent is (or add it as a Secondary Ability).
~ Choose the Abilities that best reflect your character's education and experiences, and assign starting dots to those Abilities as follows.
~ 5 Background points at character creation.
~ You Gain a number of Extra Backgrounds based on your auspice (See the Auspices for how many)
~ Rank was freely chosen in an above step, as such it does not count as a Background on here and creation/freebie points may not be spent on it.
~ You may suggest a Background that are not on the forum as long as it is from some kind of WW DA book. All Backgrounds are subject to approval.
9 - Assign Influences:
~ Garou do not possess any Influence at character creation. All Garou may buy Influence with Freebies, or earn Influences over the course of game. A garou's influence is capped by their rage: they can never have an influence higher than 5 - (half their rage rounded up).
10 - Assign Gifts and Divine Blessings:
~ Start with 3 level 1 Gifts, which must be placed in "In Tribe/Auspice/Breed" Gifts.
- Select the Basic Divine Blessing for your chosen Divine Patron (if applicable).
11 - Assign Tempers:
~ Your Tempers are assigned via your Breed and Auspice.
12 - Spend Freebie Points:
~ Start with 10 Freebie Points. Check the following chart for point values:
* - Note that you will need to provide backstory/context on how you were able to learn this Gift. You may only learn one out-of-tribe Gift at character creation, between Freebies and Starting XP.
~ Now is your chance to choose Merits & Flaws and add points elsewhere.
~ You can only gain up to 7 pts in Flaws at Character Creation (though you can take as many Flaws as you want), which you may convert to additional Freebies to spend. There will likely be an increase when we step into Season 2. There is no limit on Merits.
~ Everything caps at 5, with the exception of Tempers and bonuses given by Rank and other advantages where specified.
Note: Once your character sheet is complete then send it to Travis Groot in a private message on Facebook. Please use this template if you can. If you need help with this then contact Travis Groot and he will help you out with the character sheet formatting. All character sheets will be added to your personal forum.
