Renown/Rank/Devotion Quick Guide
In VoD: Pantheon, Renown is easy to get and versatile in its application. We are doing away with the Revised/LotW System of nickel-and-dime charted Renown and also with the BNS Status-esque Renown systems in favor of one that is our own.

Renown and Ranking: Quick Guide
1. Gaining Renown Cards
- Staff gives you Renown card with the type and amount of temporary Renown granted. Fill out name and deed and have staff sign it off.
- If you witness a renown-worthy deed from another PC with no staff nearby, you may suggest it to staff. You can't do this for yourself.
On Gaian Renown:
- Upon getting 10 points of a specific type of Renown Card (Glory/Honor/Wisdom), bring the renown cards to a Galliard. The Galliard will take time to note the deeds and may sign off on converting the 10 temporary Renown to Gaian Renown. Attach their sign off to the stack of finalized renown cards and submit them to staff.
- Upon gaining a stack of 10 temporary Renown signed off by a Galliard, a point of Permanent Gaian Renown will be added to your character sheet.
- Upon getting 10 points of a specific type of Renown Card (Glory/Honor/Wisdom), bring the renown cards to a Priest/Priestess/Priestex. They will take time to note the deeds and may sign off on converting the 10 temporary Renown to Devoted Renown. Attach their sign off to the stack of finalized renown cards and submit them to staff.
- Upon gaining a stack of 10 temporary Renown signed off by a Priest/Priestess/Priestex, a point of Permanent Devoted Renown will be added to your character sheet.
- Learning Gifts out of Affinity puts your reputation on the line. You will be asked to turn in a number of temporary renown upon learning an out of Breed or Auspice Gift equal to the level of Gift you are trying to learn. This is further expanded on here.
On Rank:
- Once you have achieved the required Gaian Renown for the next rank, find the Philodox you wish to oversee your Rank Challenge and inform them of your intent to challenge and who you intend to challenge.
- At end game, your intent to challenge (and who) will be announced. This will give the challenged a chance to think of a challenge, and Ragabash a chance to dispute your challenge.
- At the next game, if the challenge is undisputed by a ragabash, the philodox will meet with you arrange your challenge. If the challenge is disputed, the Philodox may deny your challenge and either apply a punishment rite or set an expectation for other goals you'll need to accomplish before sanctioning the challenge.
- If you win the challenge, increase in Rank!
- Nobody can rank up more than once every three months, no matter the circumstances.
- Once you have achieved the required Devoted Renown for the next level of Devotion, find a Priest/Priestess/Priestex and state your intent to increase Devotion.
- The Priest/Priestess/Priestex will give you a spiritual task/quest on par with your intended title.
- If you succeed, increase in Devotion!
- Nobody can increase their Devotion more than once every three months, no matter the circumstances.
- Learning Gifts out of Tribal Affinity puts your reputation on the line. Points of Permanent Renown will be stripped from your sheet by staff upon submitting your reputation to the spirits to justify learning the Gift (equal to the level of Gift for your own, or 1/2 the level of Gift rounded up if vouching for someone else). This is further expanded on here.
- Inglorious, Dishonorable, and Unwise actions are brought to a Philodox for consideration (or a Ragabash, in the absence of a Philodox).
- If the Philodox views it as a legitimate issue, they can utilize a Punishment Rite to strip away several points of Renown, or even an entire rank. Note that spirits will not allow an unjust Punishment Rite to work. If it does, you will be asked to hand over a certain number of Renown cards to staff. Punishment Rites strip Gaian Renown, not Devoted Renown.
- In the event that garou have not addressed the unworthy actions of the garou, a totem or similarly powerful spirit may step in and strip the renown themselves. You will be asked to hand over a certain number of Renown cards to staff.
- The Divine may intervene as well if service has displeased them enough. A deity may strip away renown at will, though this is highly unusual: gods have better things to do.
