IC:
To my friends at the Sept at Dokos,
It appears as though there are Garou in the Sept who either have no capability to understand subtlety or refuse to react to a Ragabash prank in a way that’s appropriate for a Garou above the rank of Fostern.
Giving these Garou the benefit of the doubt I’ll assume the former, reduce the subtlety of my efforts, and state the obvious. The Galliards of this Sept can do a lot better than the name they’re currently trying to defend for this Sept.
It seems in their enthusiasm to provide the most complex and high minded name possible, it was forgotten that words have meaning beyond the obvious and that there is beauty in simplicity. In this, they’ve failed the Sept by choosing a name that:
- Doesn’t even sound good and is made fun of in parts of Greece
- Doesn’t represent the Island of Dokos
- Doesn’t honor the Spirit chosen by the Sept members as our collective patron
- Only represents about half of the residents of the Sept, if that, and;
- Is an inappropriate name for any place of the Wyld
Fortunately, I have a solution. We’ll settle this in public. With a Philodox, mostly to ensure that those with a propensity to bully those beneath them understand that this is a decision too complex and important to be decided by our wolf instincts alone. We all are of Gaia, after all.
That is, unless the Sept’s Galliards want to choose now to utilize their experience, intelligence, knowledge, and talents to choose a more appropriate name for the Sept, maybe even one the whole Sept gets input into. It doesn’t have to be the one a humble Ragabash came up with while bored on the roads between Septs, it just has to be better than the one they’re peddling now.
So, let’s discuss this formally. I look forward to the whole Sept’s participation, because I certainly intend to engage the audience.
Don’t forget to pay attention to the multiple meanings of Garou names,
